AQ Group completed a sustainability project for two air handling units (AHUs) in a large building. The project involved replacing steam humidification with adiabatic high-pressure humidification.

Main components:

• Replacement of 120 kg steam humidifier in AHU Central Hall
• Replacement of 240 kg steam humidifier in the Great Hall
• Central water treatment for both AHUs

Water treatment system:

• Water softener with salt alarm
• Collection tank with leak detection and automatic main valve shut-off
• Osmosis unit with 560 liter capacity
• Expansion vessel of 330 liters
• Booster pump of 680 liters for both AHUs

Installation:

• 15 meters of piping per AHU (adjustable)
• Control via building management system (0-10Vdc signal)
• Flow guide in AHU Middle Hall for laminar airflow
• Drip traps in both AHUs.

Advantages:

• More energy efficient than steam humidification
• Precise moisture control
• Flexible system, suitable for different spaces
